Him Book.
fabulously contemplated by Lindsay
“ How did it happen that four such smart women have nothing to talk about but boyfriends? It’s like seventh grade with bank accounts.”- Sex and the City
I love it. It’s so true.
You all know that when you get together with your girls somehow you end up on the same topic- your guys.
I was looking at a book me and my girl friends started when we were in seventh grade, and could not stop laughing. It is a “Him Book”, I am not even joking. It is a hardback book, that is purple with silver hearts on it. The first entry was on 10.10.1997, I was 13.
When you open it up, it is filled with our doodles all over the first two pages. Across the top we have written, “PHAT GUYS” and our rankings below that, which are: Hottie, Cutie and Sweetie. When you get to the actual first page there is a spot for a picture of “Him”, and three lines: Name, Date, Place. We went a step further and also included their phone number and which of us had the crush on him. There is a section “How he rates” broken down between 1-10: athletic, cool, cute, funny, nice and smart. As well as a section headed, “More of what you like” which looks like as I flip through that every one pretty much say ” he’s sooo cute”, or “he’s perfect“.
But wait it gets better, after we stopped liking them or they made us mad or whatever the reason, later we went back and wrote what went wrong, haha. We even wrote the date we made the new remarks like, “He is a jerk!”-10.27.1998 and “OMG! Remember when I was in love with him! UGH! What was I thinking?!”-07.10.2000
So now a decade later, as we each get married we will fill out a page in the Him Book one last time. So when I make my final entry I want it to say something like “He is the most amazing guy!!!”. But what I am really hoping is that when I look back at it in another 10 years I can update with ” He keeps getting better with age (and he is still hot!!!) ”
I tried looking to see if this is still available and couldn’t find it, but I did find a grown up version of the Him Book.
