We Likey: Oval Vodka

Wednesday, June 24th, 2009

Oval Vodka calls itself “The Structured Vodka”, Oval creates many events and opportunities for connoisseurs to become acquainted with their brand and product  with mixologists at social gatherings.  Also at their website, you can learn both signature and classic recipes for your own gathering.  I love the Red Carpet (imagine a red carpet leading up to your decked out bar cordoned off with velvet rope!),  and the Monica Lewinsky, the Shogun, the Blue Danube, the Ugly Leprechaun and the Oval Office are all great mixes.

Fabulous chef, Tyler Florence’s website is ridiculously fabulous.  It is an experience within itself.  If you are looking for something new to infuse into your reception menu, his blog will not hesitate to impress and inspire.  You can also keep up with him on Twitter and Facebook, as well as buy things from his online store.

This song was played at one of our weddings a few years ago, and I was bawling through out the father-daughter dance. Such a sweet song!

Color Fabulous: Sunset Gold

Today is June 11, 2009 and today’s color of the day is Sunset Gold.

You were born with a nice combination of strength and sensitivity. You function best when you have a partner or a good friend with whom to share your adventures. People can talk to you because of your depth of understanding. The challenges that occur in your life serve to uncover your innate strengths which may lie dormant if not for those experiences. Wearing, meditating or surrounding yourself with Sunset Gold helps increase your self-discipline and transform hurts and setbacks into knowledge and opportunities.

I love the subtle richness of Sunset Gold, and it is amazing to see how many ways it can make itself present in wedding design.  It can be very understated or bold.  I would love to see it played up with other fun colors like Caribbean Sea from last year’s color report, or other rusts, reds, golds and yellows for depth.

We Likey: The Peanut Butter and Jelly Martini

This week, what we likey is a website and a drink. This is one of my favorites because of the mix of a favorite kid time treat with a grown up twist. My other favorite recipe consists of 1 part Chambord and 1 Frangelico, which is divine.  You can also check out the Absolute Drinks website for more great combinations.

Taryn and Angie—if you’re reading this, we’ll always have Gampy’s (where I had my first PB&J Martini!)

Daddy loves you very much.  No two moments encompass all of his emotions greater than when he walks you down the aisle and your dance together during your reception.  With Father’s Day coming up, we’ll share a few songs in case you are looking for something for your father-daughter dance at your wedding.

As many of you know, I absolutely love where I live and work.  Surrounded by gorgeous islands and beaches, and so many other awesome parts of nature and history, it is a wonderful place to live.  I keep up with the happenings of all local wedding and event professionals with blogs and social networking.  The Jekyll Island Authority had a brilliant campaign on Twitter: a picture would be posted, and if you recognized where it was on the island, you would win a guest blogger spot on the official www.jekyllisland.com blog.  Having met so many beautiful couples and planned so many gorgeous destination weddings here, it was so nice to let everyone know why I love this area so much.  Check out our guest blog post on the Jekyll Island blog!
